We are celebrating NYE at home this year and I am excited to share with you how we ring in the new year in style. I hope you’ve had a relaxing and fun week with your families! The past week between Christmas and New Years has been slow and quiet. We all need that sometimes. Here at my house,  we’ve “played” with our gifts, watched movies, spent quality time together and shopped some of the after-Christmas sales.

I’m really looking forward to our family NYE at HOME. You don’t have to step outside of your door to have fun on New Year’s Eve. Today I’m giving you a sneak peek on what we wear and what we do on New Year’s Day.

NYE at Home Attire

An evening in is all about pajamas! I absolutely love them. Now that I’m an empty nester, I spend most of my evenings in my jammies. Right now Nordstrom is having some amazing 50% off sales that you won’t want to miss out on. This is the perfect time to throw out the old and in with the new. NYE at Home Activities

If you’re spending New Years Eve at home, you probably gather around the TV and watch the ball drop at Times Square. We often incorporate this event in our celebrations and it’s lots of fun. Don’t just stop there. Here’s a few more fun New Years Eve activities that your family and friends will enjoy. Puzzles are a great way to exercise your brain and have fun at the same time. We each take time working on it as the night progresses. Speak Out has left us in stitches every time we’ve played it. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s that funny game using the mouthpiece “thingys” as I like to call them which drives my kids crazy. There are so many games for adults that will keep your New Years party hopping.

NYE at Home with Kids

There are so many great activities to do with kids on New Years Eve and we have lots of great memories with our children. One year we hosted all the kids in our neighborhood (about 15) and gave their parents a break. It was crazy fun. By the time the night was over the girls had Joey (my hubby) squeezed into one of my dresses and made up like a princess and the boys spent their time galloping around the house with Nerf guns and then some mattress surfing. We made memories but boy were we tired!

If you want a “lower key” celebration with your kids, here are some of our favorite New Years Eve Kid’s games.

Don’t forget the party favors and decor. A little festive cheer goes a long way to make the night loads of fun. We usually wear hats, dress up our home with a few party props and of course matching plates, napkins, cups and all the fixings because no one wants to do dishes that night. Here’s our favorite ways to prep for our party.
